New blog design

As you may have noticed if you’ve ever visited my blog before, I have a new design – as promised all the way back in January…

Why did it take so long?

The design you’re seeing now isn’t the first one I made. I actually had a fully-working design that integrated my blog and my portfolio into one site.

After a couple of weeks of Photoshop and WordPress-wrangling I decided it didn’t do the job – particularly it didn’t tell a very clear story about my freelance design work. So I went back to the drawing board, did a rapid redesign of my design portfolio and put together a separate blog design. I’m pleased with the outcome and hopefully now I’m happy with the blog it might encourage me to post more!

I could also throw in one or two other excuses for the delay, like having other projects to do in the mean time! Still, I’d appreciate any feedback, particularly if anything is looking messed up!

Love it! And the choice of typeface is a good one! I know how difficult these things can be…

I like it mate, first impression was really nice.

One thing, I like seeing the full post on the first page, call me old fashioned, having to click through to the full post maybe I don’t love (and you use nice images on your blog so you miss out seeing them.) But, it is tidier this way.

The green on grey is a winner.

Yeah I know what you mean about the full post – will probably look into how I can make the front page excerpts more interesting. I like how blogs like http://www.davidairey.com have images along with the excerpts to draw you in…
